Big Beauty and Form Sense
I just read a great article by Patricia Watwood about the passing of Martha Erlebacher and the ideas about beauty and form sense Martha had instilled in her. It is titled Big Beauty and Form Sense in Contemporary Figurative Practice. It was published in the spring 2014 issue of American Arts Quarterly.
It is written from the view of a painter, but the issues are pertinent to sculpture as well. Many of the ideas discussed were ideas I agree with and most I think about constantly. I am grateful Patricia was able to articulate them so well.
The article should be found at this address, http://www.nccsc.net/aaq/issues but they seem to be slower getting the online version of the publication out than the print. Hopefully it's up soon.
